The Adarsh Satsung Ramayan Mandali’s organized the sammelan to raise funds towards efforts to promote the teaching of the Hindi language in New Zealand schools through the Hindi Language and Culture Trust of New Zealand.

The mandali also raised funds for Friends of Fiji Relief Fund, funds for needy students in Fiji and also for urgent medical treatment in New Zealand for Fiji residents who faced financial difficulties.

Mandali secretary Dinesh Prasad said the kirtan sammelan was organized in three categories:
1. Under-15 years children;

Prasad said it was first time in New Zealand that Kirtan Samelan was held for Ladies Open category. All the participants received a certificate and trophy. The participants came from Auckland and Hamilton.
