The Supreme Sikh Society upon the personal invitation of Pakistan government has sent five delegates from New Zealand to Kartarpur Corridor opening this week on the occasion of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak.
“On this occasion of 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, we received personal invitation from Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan to send Sikh delegates from New Zealand,” Daljit Singh from Supreme Sikh Society said.
Prime Sevadaar from Supreme Sikh Society Ranvir Singh Lali, Kashmir Singh from Tauranga Sikh Society, Karmjit Singh from North Shore Sikh Society, Harmesh Singh, founder and executive member of SSSNZ, Balwinder Singh Cheema are the five members sent from New Zealand.
The official invitation was sent for five delegates took their flight on Monday, November 4 and 20 more members of the Sikh community have travelled from Auckland at different intervals this week to attend the event.
“These five members are invited as VIP guests from New Zealand to the corridor opening event on Saturday, November 9,” Mr Singh said.
The VIP delegates will be donating Rs 15 lakh to the Gurudwara Sahib in Pakistan that will be used towards langar for the attendees at the gurudwara.
“We wish that the delegates have a good time there and can make the most of this opportunity to the auspicious Sahib Gurudwara in Pakistan,” Mr Singh added.
Mr Singh further added that the delegates would also extend an invitation on behalf of the Supreme Sikh Society in New Zealand to the members of the Sahib Gurudwara in Pakistan who conduct Kirtan and prayers there to grace the Sikh community here in New Zealand.
The delegates will finish their tour attending the opening ceremony and spending time at the gurudwara on Saturday, November 16.
