ROCK ‘N’ RAAGA- An Indian Musical Extravaganza coming to Auckland

“Classical music is a perennially flowing river, and nothing can affect its flow; No one needs to worry about Indian music, it is forever,” those words sum up the feeling, that is, this beautiful genre of India as a country and its tradition.

UA International – Event Planners in association with Travel Point, are bringing to Auckland’s shores this year, a fusion concert titled - ROCK ‘N’ RAAGA featuring the terrific vocalist and playback singer Ronkini Gupta as the main act.

Ronkini is a Sangeet Visharad in Hindustani classical music, the winner of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa World Series 2004, which was produced by Zee TV and a recent two-time Filmfare Awards Nominee in the Best Playback Singer (Female) category for her songs – Rafu from the movie, Tumhari Sullu and Chaav Laaga from Sui Dhaaga.

She is a known powerhouse on stage, having performed 1000+ concerts all around the world and is ready to rock Auckland with her mesmerizing voice and ground-breaking vocal skills.

The concert will feature popular Hindi film songs presented in a beautifully arranged manner influenced by both the Indian classical and Rock genres.

“I have heard Ronkini live, and I can guarantee anyone that sees her performing will be blown away by her talent- I had never witnessed such perfection before,” UA’s director Umesh Sharma said.

The live band will consist of musicians coming all the way from the land of Bollywood - Mumbai, India. Akshay Menon, the pianist/music producer, has collaborated and worked with Bollywood giants like Neeti Mohan, Amaal Malik, Akriti Kakar, Ram Sampath, Bhoomi Trivedi among many others. His production for the song Sab Tera from Baaghi received massive success and appreciation globally. Some recent hits are Wajah Tum Ho and Kanha Re. He has toured with Neeti and has performed worldwide, in more than twelve countries.

Ashish Ragwani is a Tabla wiz hailing from Jodhpur, Rajasthan. He has accompanied great singers such as Pt. Rakesh Chaurasiya Ji and Padma Shri Anup Jalota and has been honoured with prestigious awards such as the “Veer Durgadas Rathor Yuva Award” from His Highness Gaj Singh Ji, “Naad Seva Shree Award” from Maand Sansthan Rajasthan and many more.

Following on from his superb performance in last year’s Rock On the concert, Auckland’s YouTube sensation – Avish Sharma will once again be putting his brilliant voice on the show. He is currently in Mumbai, working on the release of his first independent album, which is due to be out sometime this year.

The show will also feature Auckland’s favourite singers including Bhavana Suroshi Kadam, Arpita Chanda, Hemant Shirsat and Guncha Singh.
