Rotary Central Papatoetoe host Indian diaspora night, fundraising dinner

The Rotary Central Papatoetoe hosted an evening of fun, networking, fine dining, and fundraising at D’Grand Cabana on Saturday 25 May attended by more than 500 people.
The who’s who of the Kiwi Indian community and community leaders, Rotarians from all Rotary centres, parliamentarians, Auckland Mayor Phil Goff, and business magnates attended the dinner with the aim to celebrate the works of charity organisations and raise funds that will help the needy.
The funds raised during the event was presented to four selected charities; namely, Rotary Foundation, Cure Kids Fiji Oxygen Project, The Middlemore Foundation and Kids Can.
President Dr Ajit Singh welcomed the guests at the event and mentioned the works of Rotary over the years and its contributions to the community not just in New Zealand but across the globe through several projects.
The event was also an opportunity to present Roshan Nauhria, Kharag Singh and Narend Asre with the Community Awards. While Dr Ajit Singh and Karnail Badan received the Paul Harris Award.
Chair of the Fundraiser and Admin Director of the club PJ Dhatt acknowledged the presence of the Rotarians and the extended community in making the event a success and also emphasised on the four beneficiaries of the event and their works.
Mr Dhatt presented $21,000 cheque raised through fundraising to The Rotary Foundation accepted by PDG Jennie Herring. Ms Herring is regarded the ‘mother’ of Papatoetoe Central Rotary for her role to form the club and run it and its achievement over the years.
The event also presented Cure Kids Fiji Oxygen Project with $9000 cheque, $8000 to Middlemore Foundation and $5000 to Kids Can.
Rotary Papatoetoe Central is relatively new in the Rotary New Zealand landscape but has had a significant presence in the community through different projects with the participating and dedication of its Rotarians, their families, friends and supporters.
