Holi in South Auckland

Humm 106.2FM, The South Trust, Bharatiya Samaj Charitable Trust and Manukau Indian Association will be celebrating Holi in South Auckland and promoting diversity with colours.

People from all ages and cultures come together to enjoy the playful spray of colours and relish on the delicious savouries and sweets prepared to keep the festivity high.

With food stalls, local entertainers, live band, live DJ and colours to play with, join this free, fun filled community event and much more. 

When: Saturday, March 24, 12noon – 6pm

Rang Barse Holi Mela

The Waitakere Indian Association presents Rang Barse Holi Mela, a colourful presentation of rich Indian and multicultural items on the theme of integration. Since Holi is a festival of colours where one sings hymns to the accompaniment of drum and cymbals, and generally involve in other singing, merry making and dancing to celebrate victory of good over evil, the afternoon’s event will be full of singing, cultural items and fun for the whole family in open-ground celebrations. So be there. The opening ceremony is at 2pm.

Immerse in colours with ISKCON

Immerse yourself in colours on Saturday with Auckland Hare Krishna devotees as they celebrate the Festival of colours, Holi! You will be treated to the tunes of the melodious ancient music and the radiant colours from the very heart of India that will get you dancing with joy. This is a sure fun-filled day for all families and something that everyone will treasure and remember for years. The Festival of Colours will take place at the tranquil, environmentally wonderful, and peaceful setting of the grounds of Sri Sri Radha Giridhari Temple.

The Festival aims to provide the opportunity to the people of Auckland and those at festival to experience the thrills of being involved in one of India’s most popular Festival of Colours, learn about Krishna consciousness and vegetarianism. ISKCON devotees from Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch, Masterton, Palmerston North, Otaki and Auckland would keep everyone entertained using music, yoga, face painting, children’s activities, and drama.

Sab rang ek sang

There are religious stories behind the celebration of Holi in different regions of India, however the essence is the same.
This year Gopio Waikato and Indianz Global Women & Family Group have planned to promote Race Relations day (March 21) along with Holi festivities.

When: March 23, 12 noon to 6pm
Where: Waikato University, Village Green Lake Side

Holi Flavour in Wellington

This year, Hindu Council of New Zealand has collaborated with the Hutt Multi Cultural Council’s Multifest celebrations. Multifest brings various ethnicities in the Hutt region for a day-long festivity to mark the Race Unity Day. The rich symbolism of intermingling of Holi colours will blend spectacularly with Multifest for the wider Hutt and Wellington community.

One of the key objectives is to encourage youth to not only participate but also learn to organise events to develop and nourish a community spirit. This year’s Holi festival will be run by youths – mainly teenagers and tertiary students from various communities.

When: March 23. The official festival will start at 2.00 pm.

Musical evening by Pakistan Association of New Zealand

The Pakistan Association of New Zealand presents a gala musical evening with Creation Group, organised by Central Auckland Pakistan Community.

When: Sunday March 31, 6pm
Where: Mt. Roskill Intermediate School
Admission: Free entry. Adults only.
