Tribute to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan

Hamid Ali Qawwal and party will pay tribute to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan through a soulful Sufi evening on September 29 at Logan Campbell Centre, Greenlane at 7.00 pm.

Hamid, a young man in his twenties is from Bradford, England. Since childhood he has had an ever growing interest in qawalis and aimed at becoming a Qawwal. At the age of four, getting his hands on the harmonium was his first ever experience of being a Qawwal.

Hamid’s first ever performance was at the tender age of nine where his voice and talent was recognised. Soon after he started to work on his vocals skills and developed a deep husky voice suitable for qawalis. Listening and watching the great Late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan motivated him to pursue his career as a Qawwal. He performed again at the age of fourteen in front of an audience and that is when his potential came to light. Today, he is known as one of the most professional and master harmonium players in the UK.
