The man behind the America Cup’s success, is none other than a Kiwi from Auckland. A computer engineer from Auckland, Asim Khan was the brain behind all the high tech IT stuff that pushed the American success in Oracle Team USA.
“We made sure there’s no one person behind analysing data, everyone has their personalized information.”, said Asim Khan.
Khan said that IT was absolutely critical in the outcome of the result. All the sailors, he said had to learn technology.
Khan ended in this job by chance. He mentions how he was not at all interested in sailing.
“Their world famous sailors are just individuals to me…that’s one thing they liked, I was not interested in boats.” Khan smiled.
