Star violinist for Auckland concert

A grand violin instrumental concert will be held in Auckland later this month.
And the man behind the Sangamam Instrumental Night is Madhan Kalyan, son of M Kalyan, the “Singinging Violin”, the well known solo violinist, music conductor and miusic composer in the Tamil film industry.
The concert will be held at the Mt Eden War Memorial Hall, on Dominion Rd, on June 18, at 6pm.
Among the star performers are: Peter Ravela, tabla/dholak; Suresh Ramachandran, Mirudhangham; Antony Yempee, lead guitarist; Diya Yempee, rhythm guitarist; Joseph Alexander, electric drums; Joscel Alexander, acoustic drums; Shivam Padayachi, bass guitar; Vishnu Kumar, percussions; Geerthana Nanthakumar, synthesiser; Divya Nanthakumar, keyboard; Madhan Kalyan, violin.
Madhan began his musical career at the age of six as a violonist. He has successfully completed Violin (grade 6) examinations conducted by the Trinity College of Music, London, with honours. Madhan credits his success to his dad M.Kalyan.
He also learned Carnatic music and Indian classical music (both vocal and violin) under the tutelage of several renowned teachers. He has sung for various leading music orchestras back in South India.
Having a sound knowledge in the field of music, Madhan felt in love with keyboard and started playing keys by hearing sense and later he started to gain some more knowledge by theoretical music. He had his theory lessons from Master Abdul Sattar, who has given the best music directors in both North and South India.
In Auckland, Madhan Kalyan has widened his performances in vocal and instrumental by accompanying several leading bands, such as Navrag, SB Magic Music Shop, Blessed Performers, and now runs his own band "Maestro MMK Music Orchestra.
