Some of Auckland’s brightest musicals stars will be out to shine in an evening of gazals.
The Sargam School of Music will present Sham-E-Gazal at Avondale College Theatre, Avondale, on February 14, Valentine’s Day.
Featuring in the gazal evening will be Nisar, Chaitra, Viraj, Ashish, Amrita, Roshan, Saras and Rajesh.
Accompanying musicians are: Dr Ashok Malur (violin); Surbhi Sharma (violin); Deepak Madhur, Partha Kanjilal, Basant Madhur (tabla); Ravi Nyayapati (dholak); and Jassy Singh (keyboard).
The event is being organized by Prof Basant Madhur, who promises “a memorable Valentine’s evening, filled with immortal gazals by eminent singers of Auckland”.
Tickets ($15) available at Yogiji’s Foodmart, 26 Carr Rd, Mt Roskill. Programme starts at 6.30pm.
