Bollywood Redefining - Generational Change Driving Music

From AR Rahman to Shankar Ehsaan Loy, from Vishal-Shekhar to Pritam, the need to appeal to a wider music listening audience, young and old is pushing music directors to produce compositions catering to a wider Bollywood audience worldwide.
One way this is done is soundtracks containing a combination of traditional (acoustic) instruments and technology. Going further, within a single song, this combined use creates a music journey from past to present, all within 3 minutes.
Now technology in music is new. I have commented previously about the long popularity of remixes of songs from the 60's, and 70's. However, these remain one dimensional - songs originally performed with traditional instruments, later converted through technology.
Rather, songs of today increasingly display a simultaneous use of traditional (acoustic) instruments and technology. This extends into live concerts performed, whether Sunidhi Chauhan, Sonu Nigaam, and others. A stage consisting of tabla, drum and guitar, coupled with laptop and synthesizer technology.
The result - an ability to remain relevant to a wider music audience, young and old, at the same time.
Showcasing this theme and providing an example of this combination, listen to this recent 'Bollywood Redefined' capturing the merging of Piano and DJ, and with it, a merging of generations.
