Fiji Electricity Authority, Govt Printer to be privatised

Suva, Fiji: The Fiji Electricity Authority will soon be privatised, Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has confirmed, says Pacific Business Online quoting reports from Fiji Live.
Expressions of interest have already been called for people to help the government with the FEA’s restructure.
“This will mean we will be looking at some form of partial privatization which will include divestment of government shares which we will need to do to corporatize FEA and for it to be able to list shares perhaps on the stock market,” he said.
Sayed-Khaiyum said they are looking at creating a lot more robust capital market in Fiji but without government losing control of FEA.
The AG has also assured there will not be any job losses during the restructure process.
It was also confirmed that Cabinet has approved the divestment of Government Printer to the private sector.
“This again contributes to the private sector development in Fiji but more so importantly it also needs to groom the economic and financial management within government operations,” he said.
