The central government is mulling on a formula on the lines of Chandigarh to make Hyderabad the capital of both Andhra and Telangana once the state is formed (Chandigarh is capital for both the states of Punjab and Haryana).
The centre is likely to offer this proposal to leaders from both regions to make Hyderabad the common capital. The city would get this special status for 5-10 years.
‘The aim is to create infrastructure in non-Telangana regions and then hive off the state’ sources said.
Many are of the opinion that Hyderabad also nick-named as Cyberabad belongs to everyone since everybody has put in money for its growth.
However Telangana activitists are not willing to talk about Telangana without Hyderabad. “There is no question of negotiating on Hyderabad.
Historically, it has been a part of Telangana. "A Telangana without Hyderabad is like a body without head,” K.Chandrashekar Rao, chief of TRS said.
Another Telangana MP said “We don’t mind Andhra using the infrastructure in Hyderabad till they have own facilities. But it should not be allowed for long.”
