Sharma helps India take unassailble 3-0 lead

Antigua: Rohit Sharma scored an unbeaten 86 to guide India to a three wicket victory over West Indies and also a series victory as the tourists took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series here Saturday.

Sharma innings helped India recover from 92 for six to chase down 226 at the Sir Vivian Richards stadium.

He added 88 runs for the seventh wicket with Harbhajan Singh (41) and put India back in contention.

Praveen Kumar then struck 25 not out as the tourists coasted to a comfortable victory with 22 balls to spare.

But the highlight of the day was lower order contributions with West Indies only managing to set a decent target thanks to an outstanding 92 not out from 84 balls by Jamaican Andre Russell.

Russell's score was the highest by a number nine batsman in one-day internationals. He was also involved in a 78-run partnership with wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh as the Caribbean side recovered from 85-6.

Russell's innings included eight fours and five sixes as the home crowd was finally entertained.

West Indies struggled against spin with leg-spinner Amit Mishra taking 3-28 from his ten allotted overs.

Opener Lendl Simmons was the best of the West Indies batsmen and scored a fine 45 before Mishra had him caught by Virat Kohli at slip but the middle order again failed.
