Isolate the extremists in Islam, says Obama

Mumbai: Facing a tough question on the meaning of jihad from Mumbai students, US President Barack Obama on Sunday said Islam is a great religion which is being disgraced by a few extremists.
He said the overwhelming majority of Muslims worldwide practising the religion believe in peace and tolerance, but “this great religious is in the hands of a few extremists” who should be isolated.
“The challenge is how we isolate them,” he said, in response to a question by a student of St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai.
“It is a major challenge around the world. Young people like you can make huge impact. You can be strong observer of your faith without putting somebody else down,” he said.
Barack Obama and his wife Michelle are now on an ongoing three-day India tour as part of their 10-day four nation Asia visit.
