Saina overjoyed with Khel Ratna announcement

New Delhi: Indian badminton star and World No. 2 player Saina Nehwal  said that achieving the Khel Ratna award is the 'biggest high point' in her life.

"It is one of the biggest awards I have received till today, a biggest high point in my life," said Saina in an interview to a national news channel, after his name was announced for the  Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award .

"I am very happy to get it," she added.

Saina has been in great form and recently won three back-to-back tournaments- the Indian Open Grand Prix, Singapore Open and Indonesian Open.

Earlier this month, she moved one spot to World No.2, ahead of the World Championships in Paris from Aug 23.

"I am not worrying about the rankings but I want to do better in the upcoming tournaments,"she said over the question of becoming the World No.1 in badminton.

Saina also stated that she wish to win the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games that will be hosted in India later this year.

Saina, who won the Padma Shri Award last year, was the first Indian girl to reach the singles quarterfinals at the Olympics in Beijing and the first Indian to win the World Junior Badminton Championships.

Saina has also been made the captain of the Indian team for the World Championships.
