IPL governing council meet under way

Mumbai: Following India Premier Laque (IPL) chief Lalit Modi's suspension early on Monday, the IPL Governing Council is currently holding the much-publicised meeting at the Mumbai Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) headquarters, but sans Modi.
 
All members of the council are expected to be present at the meet baring Lalit Modi and Faaroq Abdullah, which is reportedly being held to discuss the 22 charges that have been leveled against Modi.

Some media reports said a three member committee to succeed Modi and tun the IPL would also be formed at this meeting.
 
Around 1:20 am on Monday morning, Modi was suspended via a 32 page email that highlighted 22 charges that Modi is being accused of.

One of the serious allegations laid on Modi is of rigging the auctions of the two new IPL teams of Kochi and Pune, bids for which were received from other parties like Videocon and the Adani Group.

Despite his lone suspension, Modi had earlier raised fingers at IPL board members M. Srinivasan and Rajeev Shukla for also being involved in the affair.
 
After Modi's refusal to resign, the BCCI prepared a showcause and ordered Modi's suspension.
