Watch | Thieves Ram Car Into Man In Sandringham Robbery

Auckland's Smart Deal Bazaar in Sandringham turned into a crime scene when an SUV rammed into a bystander on the pavement.

Four men then leapt from the vehicle and stormed the shop, intent on robbing it. The incident took place at 11.38pm on 14 June, 2024.

“The robbers took cigarettes and cash from the shop. It all happened within two minutes,” says one of the owners of the shop.

Opened in 2004, Sandringham's Smart Deal Bazaar has witnessed such an incident for the third time, according to the Sri Lankan owner.

The CCTV footage later captured several bystanders rushing in, striking the SUV from behind, seemingly in an attempt to prevent the robbers from escaping.

Despite the chaos, the four men, already back in the car, sped off the pavement.

“The police took DNA samples and CCTV footage from the crime scene. The investigation is ongoing.”

The pedestrian struck by the robbers' car miraculously stood up and walked away just minutes after the impact. However, the shop owners are still uncertain about the extent of his injuries.
