Labour leader Chris Hipkins has shared the happy news of his engagement to partner Toni Grace, saying he feels incredibly fortunate to be taking this next step in his life.
Hipkins announced the engagement on Instagram, joking that while he didn’t win the weekend’s Powerball draw, he still “hit the jackpot” with Grace. The pair went public with their relationship during Hipkins’ concession speech after the 2023 election, but have otherwise kept their personal lives private.
In his post, Hipkins expressed deep appreciation for Grace, crediting her for staying calm and supportive through the challenges of politics, parenting, and everyday life, RNZ reported.
He wrote that Grace is his “rock” and that he is thrilled about their future together. “There aren’t enough words to describe how much I love you and how lucky I am that you’ve agreed to marry me,” he added.
