Dashcam footage shows car squeezing between lanes the wrong way
Dashcam footage has revealed a shocking incident of dangerous driving on a busy road in Hamilton, where a driver forced their way between lanes against the flow of traffic.
The video, shared with Stuff, shows vehicles pulling aside as a red sedan drives through the middle of congested traffic. The incident occurred on Wairere Drive on Tuesday afternoon, prompting multiple calls to police reporting a vehicle travelling on the wrong side of the road.
“It is reported that the driver hit multiple other vehicles without stopping, before ditching the vehicle and leaving on foot,” a police spokesperson said.
According to Stuff, police later located the alleged driver, described as a youth, nearby and took them into custody. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported following the incident.
Police said the youth was due to appear in Hamilton Youth Court on Wednesday, charged with four counts of failing to stop after a crash, dangerous driving, excess breath alcohol, resisting police and assaulting police, as reported by Stuff.
