ACT leader & Dy PM David Seymour Slams Newly Appointed Nikhil Ravishankar
Nikhil Ravishankar, the newly appointed CEO of Air New Zealand, has suggested introducing a “situational subsidy” to support regional routes during periods when the economy is weak and demand is low.
Ravishankar officially assumed the role on 20 October 2025, succeeding Greg Foran, who stepped down after six years, reported NewstalkZB.
Deputy Prime Minister David Seymour responded to the proposal during an interview with Heather du Plessis-Allan, warning that such a subsidy could lead to excessive government control over the airline, describing it as a “complete disaster,” reported NewstalkZB.
Seymour also addressed the legalisation of melatonin for individuals under 55 during the same interview.
