According to News18, the young Labour Party representative officially took charge as the Mayor of Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council in Hertfordshire, England, during the annual Mayor Making Ceremony held at Fairway Hall.

Originally born in Haryana, India, Tushar Kumar moved to the United Kingdom in 2013 when he was just 10 years old.
News18 reported that he later pursued higher education in the UK and graduated with a degree in Political Science from. He also built a strong academic profile, securing five A-levels and 21 GCSEs.
Despite stepping into a major public leadership role at a young age, Kumar continues to focus on academics as well. He is scheduled to begin a master’s degree in political economy at (UCL) in September 2026 while simultaneously carrying out his mayoral responsibilities.
