Ramathon 2025: Shri Ram Mandir & Cancer Society invite community to walk for a cause
Shri Ram Mandir, in association with the Cancer Society in New Zealand, invites the community to support and participate in the “Ramathon”, a charity fundraising event scheduled for Saturday, 6 December 2025.
This year’s Ramathon is a 20km charity walk, beginning at 9:00am at Auckland Domain and concluding at Shri Ram Mandir in Henderson around 3:00pm. All funds raised during the event will go directly to the Cancer Society of New Zealand, supporting their work in cancer research, education, and patient care.
Community members can register to participate, create a fundraising team, join the official Ramathon team, or make a direct donation via the Cancer Society Relay for Life team page. Participants are also encouraged to share the link within their networks to help raise awareness of the event.
This event is not only about fundraising but also focuses on:
-
Raising awareness that cancer affects people of all ages, races, and religions.
-
Promoting a healthy lifestyle among participants.
-
Highlighting that the Cancer Society is New Zealand’s largest researcher in cancer prevention and treatment.
-
Encouraging community members to give and sacrifice not at a personal level, but from a mandir (religious) perspective.
-
Educating the Indian community that cancer is a disease they should feel comfortable discussing and not feel ostracised or ashamed about.
-
Informing participants about the support available from the Cancer Society, including accommodation, transport, psychological, financial, and other services to help people cope through cancer.
The Ramathon provides a meaningful way for participants to give back to the community while promoting health, unity, and social responsibility.
