ladies-only diwali mahotsav: a night to remember

In the heart of Auckland, Better Future NZ Trust pulled off an electrifying and culturally rich celebration that left more than 300 ladies on cloud nine. The occasion was the spectacular ‘Deep Mahotsav’, a dazzling extravaganza that seamlessly blended tradition with glamour, all in the name of celebrating Diwali and Karva Chauth in style.

The event held at the Mt Eden War Memorial Hall on the October 27 had women bedecked in regal Indian attire, transforming the evening into a mesmerizing pageant of colours and elegance.

In attendance were esteemed dignitaries, including trustee of the Swaminarayan Temple and founder of Tamaki Health Ranjna Patel, Ethnic Responsiveness Manager of New Zealand Police Jessica Phuang, Founder of New Zealand Sikh Women’s Association Jit Kaur and National’s Melissa Lee.

Attendees couldn't stop raving about the event, with some even drawing comparisons to the grandeur of an Indian wedding. The glamorous photo booth proved to be a popular attraction, with guests creating lasting memories through snapshots.

"Glamour and elegance swept the evening, and we felt like royalty in our traditional attire," said one delighted attendee, Prachi, capturing the essence of the night's regal fashion.

One of the guests, Akanksha, said, “The event's ambiance was nothing short of magical, with decor and lighting that transported every guest to the heart of India, evoking the opulence of a traditional Indian wedding.”

But the evening was not just about appearances. It was a feast for the senses. Shivani Restaurants rolled out an all-inclusive buffet of authentic Indian cuisine, with dishes like kulche channa and aloo tikki that left taste buds dancing with joy. Live counters served up an array of delectable treats, turning the event into a culinary adventure.

As if that weren't enough, the event featured an essential part of Indian culture – henna art. The ladies had the chance to adorn themselves with intricate henna designs, infusing the evening with traditional beauty.

Shivani Arora, founder, Better Future New Zealand Trust, seemed overjoyed with the response. “The response to the event was nothing short of overwhelming.
