Dreams In Your Driveway: Top Mercedes-Benz Choices Among Kiwi-Indians

Darsh Chokshi, Sales Executive, Mercedes-Benz, Botany

Imagine reclining in a leather massage chair, sipping champagne from a dedicated holder, and enjoying premium entertainment with perfect mood lighting.

This isn't your living room; it's the backseat of the Mercedes-Benz Maybach.

Mercedes-Benz, a name synonymous with luxury and innovation, promises to deliver the highest quality sales and service at its Botany showroom.

New call-to-action

Mercedes-Benz Botany is an authorised dealership offering comprehensive service plans and warranty work for all Mercedes-Benz vehicles, regardless of where they were purchased in New Zealand.

What truly sets this showroom apart, however, is a young Kiwi-Indian sales executive who has become a trusted figure among the Kiwi-Indian community in Auckland.

Suited in a crisp white shirt and a grey blazer, Darsh Chokshi excuses himself from our brief meeting to attend to his Kiwi-Indian clients who have just walked in.

"I'm ‘trusted’ by many Indians here," he says with a confident smile.

Hailing from Vadodara in the western Indian state of Gujarat, Darsh has been in the automotive industry since he arrived in New Zealand in 2013. Initially starting in car grooming, Chokshi transitioned to the car dealership business with Mercedes-Benz in 2017. By 2022, his exceptional sales skills were recognised, and he was promoted to a sales role at Mercedes-Benz Botany.

His dedication and rapport with the community have made him a key figure at the showroom.

His success is rooted in the trust he has built with his clients. "Many return to either gift a car to a family member or seek recommendations for their next car. They trust me completely, and I'm grateful for their faith in my advice."

His favourite part about working at Mercedes-Benz Botany is driving the Mercedes GLC. Generous enough to share a taste of luxury, Darsh takes us for a drive around the block, making every moment feel like a luxurious adventure.

Colleagues from various departments at Mercedes-Benz appreciate Darsh’s sense of humour and his skills as a sales executive.

His favourite models, which are also in good demand among Kiwi and Fiji Indians, include the GLC SUV, known for its luxurious interior, advanced features like the Parking Package and a 360° camera, and a central display tilted towards the driver.

The history of Mercedes-Benz is steeped in innovation. The first Mercedes automobile was invented in 1885-86 – a stationary gasoline engine, created by Carl Benz, was a one-cylinder two-stroke unit that first ran on New Year's Eve in 1879. The Benz Patent-Motorwagen is considered the first practical modern automobile and was the first car to enter production.

Today, Mercedes-Benz continues to evolve. New models like the GLC, GLS, EQS SUV, GLE Coupe, and GLS Maybach attract a significant portion of their clientele. According to Darsh, the GLC SUV, GLE SUV, and GLS are particularly popular among the Kiwi-Indian community, making up 40 per cent of the sales of pre-owned or brand-new C-class models.

"We’re evolving for you," is a promise that Mercedes-Benz holds dear.

With experts like Darsh steering the ship, the Botany showroom is all about parking your "dreams into the driveway."
