A new book by Auckland architectural designer Bobby Banerjee aims to help property investors and developers identify risks early and avoid costly mistakes during the development process.
Don’t Start Building Yet: Conquering the 7 Pitfalls of Property Development was officially launched at the High Performer Building Innovation Hub in Ellerslie on September 23, with more than 100 people from New Zealand’s property and building sector attending.
The book draws on Banerjee’s more than two decades of experience in New Zealand’s housing industry and takes readers through the property development process, from the initial idea through to the final handover.
Banerjee said the book was shaped by real projects and lessons from his professional journey, with a focus on helping readers recognise risks early and make informed decisions.
For Banerjee, the goal is to help people avoid mistakes that can prove costly during property development.
The launch brought together property developers, industry experts, Architectural Designers New Zealand members, real estate professionals and others interested in property development.
The event was hosted by Jim Marsh, Director of High Performer Building, while the book was officially unveiled by Lester Haycock, Founder of High Performer Building.
During the event, Haycock spoke about challenges facing New Zealand’s building and property industry and the importance of initiatives that help people better understand the risks involved in property development.
ISKCON Auckland President Kalasamvara Das, who has known Banerjee for more than two decades, also spoke at the launch and shared personal reflections with the audience.
The event also included networking and discussions around the book, with attendees given the opportunity to meet Banerjee and purchase copies.
According to the organisers, 200 copies of the book were sold on the day of the launch, with some attendees purchasing multiple copies.
