Indian-American tourist named 17th victim died following White Island eruption

New Zealand Police earlier on Monday, December 23 confirmed another person has died admitted at the Middlemore Hospital following the White Island eruption.
Police said the victim died before 11 p.m. on Sunday, December 22.
The New York Post revealed the name of the deceased as Atlanta woman Mayuari ‘Mary’ Singh who was with her husband on the tour of the White Island on December 9.
New Zealand police has not released the name of the deceased yet.
Mayuari Singh received 70 per cent burns on her body and died at the hospital due to complications in her treatment which included skin grafts on burned areas of the body, NY Post & 11Alive reported.

Mayuari Singh’s husband Pratab, ‘Paul’ Singh, received 40 per cent burns on his body and remained hospitalised.
Mayuari Singh’s death brings the total death toll from the White Island’s fatal eruption to 17, 16 of whom died in New Zealand and one in Australia.
The last update as per New Zealand says that bodies of two people, Marshall-Inman and 17-year-old Winona Langford are still missing and the search is going on.
Police resources, including the Eagle helicopter and Deodar vessel, will remain in Whakatane for several days.
