Kite Festival returns on Sunday, January 13

Vaishnav Parivar (NZ) Inc. once again will bring the most awaited and the only kite-flying event of the Indian community on Sunday, January 13.
The 13th Kite Festival will be held at Eastdale Reserve on Eastdale Road in Avondale from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
"All preparations are nearly complete –we have received the kites, the thread (manja), and other equipment required in the kite flying activity," Manhar Patel from Vaishnav Parivar said.
The venue is located next to Avondale College on Rosebank Road, Avondale.
Kites ready to fly (with kinna tied) and Manja (the thread with which the kite is flown) will be on sale to the public at the festival.
“There will be several stalls with delicious food items, ice cream, ice-gola and kulfi. In addition, there will be lots of entertainment activities for children in the form of fun rides and slide, face painting and drawing competitions,” Mr Patel said.
“Live cultural performances will be one of the attractions of many more cultural programs of the festival,” Mr Patel added.
Also, people can buy $5 raffle tickets to get into the draw to holiday package for two people that include four days accommodation in Gold Coast, Australia. The event will also have small prizes during the day, and before the event ends, just after 6 p.m., visitors can participate in the auction for Slumber zone Deluxe Bed.
