Yes I know,I mentioned Indian cinema because you had quoted out of context.Your statements in your previous comment about Bollywood movies being crap proves my point...One man's manna is another man's poison...in simple words it means that your likes & dislikes are entirely your own.however they cannot be used to "generalise" and paint an entire industry with the same brush as you are attempting to do.
Well this article isn't about Indian cinema is it, it is about India and it's greatness. It was only to make a point that I mentioned a movie. Anyway all of Bollywood movies are full of bad acting and have the the same boy meet girl themes dragging on for 3 hours, it's about time our mainstream movies got more creative don't you think. Even Harry Potter etc are so different from each other, thank god no boy meets girl themes, or better called chick flicks.
I am talking only about Indian cinema..not about india & its greatness... One man's manna is another man's poison.Movies are quite like that.In india they still continue to provide the cheapest entertainment to all & sundry. That includes masses and the classes. "escapist trash" is one way of relieving the stress of daily humdrum life and movies made for indian audiences want that.even Hollywood has turned escapist.Harry Potter,Narnia,Lord of the rings all are recent escapist movies...
