Mumbai: Former West Indian star batsman Brian Lara on Thursday said that if he had a son, he would like him to bat like Sachin Tendulkar.
The stylish cricket great is in India on a personal visit.
"I have picked up many DVDs on Sachin and looked at the way Sachin bats and his composure. And if I had a son, I would definitely want to see him bat like Sachin," he said.
Lara congratulated the Indian batting legend on becoming the first cricketer to score a double century in one day international cricket, and added that he would be happy if Tendulkar breaks his own record of 400 in a Test match, which he scored against England in Antigua in 2004.
"I'd be happy if Sachin breaks my record of 400 not out in Test cricket," he added.
However, he also said that there are a lot of cricketers out there who are capable of scoring a 200 in ODIs. "Cricketers like Ponting, Sehwag and Gayle are all capable of breaking the record," he said.
