Sehwag’s knock scripts India victory

Dambulla, Sri Lanka: Virender Sehwag struck an unbeaten 99 as India thrashed Sri Lanka by six wickets and bagged bonus points in the third one-day international of the tri-nation series at the Ranagiri International Stadium here Monday.
Sehwag’s 100-ball blitzkrieg helped India achieve the target of 171 runs in 34.3 overs after Sri Lanka opted to bat first.
Indian bowlers put on a disciplined performance to restrict Sri Lanka to 170 runs in 46.1 overs.
Fast bowler Praveen Kumar (2-20) rocked Sri Lanka's top order by removing opener Upul Tharanga with the first ball of the match and then trapped former captain Mahela Jayawardene leg-before in his fourth over. Fast bowler Ishant Sharma also bagged two for 32.
Spinners Pragyan Ojha (3-36) and Ravindra Jadeja (2-34) bowled well to dry down the runs in the middle overs.
Sri Lankan opener Tillakaratne Dilshan top-scored with a fighting 45, but the hosts slipped to 103 for seven in the 32nd over. However they managed to cross the 150-mark, after Suraj Randiv (43) and Nuwan Kulasekara (22) came up with gutsy knocks. Randiv hit four boundaries in his 61-ball knock.
