The third T20 between India and the Black Caps witnessed two absolutely brilliant performances, both leading their teams to the cusp of winning- one surpassing the boundary line and handing the series to its team in style.
Cricket fans raved about Kane Williamson today with his 95 runs leading his team to the verge of winning only falling short of one run to tie the game. On the other hand, India's hitman Rohit Sharma with his 65 in the first innings and ended the super over with two consecutive sixes and winning the match and making it the most thrilling match of the year 2020 yet.
The whole episode reminded fans of one of the most thrilling matches of cricket history- the Cricket World Cup Final 2019 between England and New Zealand at Lords in London just seven months ago in July 2019.
Ross Taylor's play down off Mohammed Shami's brilliant spell in the last bowl of the 19th over tied the match and an end to a magnificent chase crafted by skipper Williamson (95 off 48).
The super over brought Guptill and Kane Williamson back on the pitch who together scored 17 off 6 from India's pacer Jasprit Bumrah.
Responding to chase 17 runs, India's openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma took on the charge on the pitch facing Tim Southee from New Zealand.
A relatively competitive start from the duo- Rohit's 2 and 1, KL Rahul's 4 and 1 and ending the suspense with two back to back sixes by Rohit Sharma.
This ended the nail-biting chase by both teams- (New Zealand in the main innings 179/6) and India successfully scoring 20/0 (18 needed to win).
With this win at Seddon Park, Hamilton, India has nailed the T20 series against the Black Caps 3-0, and have two more to go before jumping into the ODI formats matches.
