Lady Gaga and Mika Singh - What Do They Have In Common ?

Music is said to be a global language. In doing so, it reflects the forces of east and west coming together, as it has in food, language, and mixed marriages, to represent the globalized world we live in. 

While we speak about it, what evidence do we have to show it.

To illustrate, we take two hit songs. One out of the US, and one out of Bollywood. One performed by the sensation Lady Gaga. The other, by Indian's Mika Singh. 'Edge of Glory,' and 'Subha Hone Na De.'

While containing different languages and meanings, both share the same chords and order of chords. For those with a familiarity of music notes, the chords A to E to F sharp minor to D forms the basis for much of both songs.

Is this an example of piracy or copying. I don't believe so. In this instance, in particular given the difference in the meaning and purpose of both songs.

Instead, it captures how music directors and producers seek inspiration for song ideas and melodies by listening to an increasing array of music from around the world made easier and more available through a globalized world.

Whilst providing limited examples, it showcases what will be a growing trend in music, east meeting west, and west meeting east, bringing together Lady Gaga and Mika Singh in ways previously unthought of. Redefining Music !!
