Help at hand for small businesses

Help at hand for small businesses
Do you have a small business that has the potential to go on to bigger things?

Do you need someone to offer feedback and show you the way? There is help at hand. New Zealand Trade and Enterprise has in place a scheme that offers mentors to small businesses that need just that extra support. These mentors are successful business people who have “been there, done that”.
They are committed and experienced business people who volunteer their time specifically to help small business.

Why mentoring?
Business requires a variety of skills and information at different stages and this is where a mentor can greatly assist. Mentoring can provide you with peace of mind, inspiration or simply a sounding board to bounce ideas off for growing your business.

Business Mentors New Zealand draws on the skills and experience of business people from a diverse range of fields including sales and marketing, general management, finance and accounting, administration, manufacturing, production and distribution, human resources, legal, international trade and export, and technology.

The mentors have a genuine desire to make a difference to your business – they volunteer their time and are committed to sharing their skills, knowledge and experience.

Does your business qualify?
If your business has been trading for more than six months with evidence of accounts, employs fewer than 25 full-time employees and provides you with your primary source of income, you are eligible to apply for a business mentor.

How do I Apply?
Visit www.businessmentor.org.nz to complete an on-line application. A registration fee of $100 + gst will apply, which entitles you to use the mentoring service for two years. This is the only cost to you – the mentoring you receive is free.

Business Mentors New Zealand is 70% funded by private sector companies and 30% funded by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.

Specialised Export Mentoring Service
There have mentors available who specialise in exporting. All of our export mentors have proven exporting experience and (in many cases) current international contacts, to help you in establishing your export markets.
