Telangana Jagruthi calls for women empowerment

Telangana Jagruthi New Zealand (TJNZ) hosted the Telangana State Formation Day event on Saturday, June 2, at the Western Springs Community Centre. A large number of community members and community leaders gathered to host the fourth State Formation Day of Telangana state.

TJNZ is the New Zealand chapter of Telangana Jagruthi led by Jyoti Mallikarjun Reddy that focuses on three critical issues for the community – floral festival of Bathukamma, women empowerment and international student issues for which they hosted a seminar earlier this year.

Telangana Jagruthi was formed for the socio-cultural and economic development of the people of Telangana by Kalvakuntla Kavitha, daughter of Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao, the Chief Minister of the Telangana.

The event was attended by Honorary Consul of India Bhav Dhillon, National List MP Kanwaljit Bakshi, Jeet & Roopa Suchdev from Bhartiya Samaj, Nilima Venkat from Shanti Niwas, Roshan Nauhria, Ella Kumar, Biku Bhana and Nanette Nathoo from NZICA, Mandeep Singh from NZ Police, Vai Ravindran from Auckland Tamil Association etc.

An essential aspect of the event was the performances by a young generation of Telanganites who exhibited the music and culture of Telangana state.

President of TJNZ acknowledged the contribution of women and the young minds of the community who work hard to put up a show like State Formation Day and Bathukamma festival.

“We are a small group of women who work together to make such occasions celebratory, and together we make Telangana Jagruthi New Zealand stronger,” Jyoti Mallikarjun said at the event.

“This shows the strength of the women who are representing themselves on various fronts and making their contribution to a better society,” Ms Jyoti added.
