The Auckland Tamil Association hosted an evening of musical extravaganza for the community members on the occasion of Christmas celebrations.
The event “Mannil Intha Kathal A Musical Night" was held at Freeman’s Bay Community Hall on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, and more than 190 members of the community attended the event.

The star of the event was Tamil actor and singer Yugendran Vasudevan who is the son of veteran popular playback singer-cum-actor Malaysia Vasudevan and has sung more than 600 songs in Tamil.
Singer Yugendran sang the famous numbers of music Maestro Ilaiyaraaja and A R Rahman with whom he has performed and sung in the past.
Yugendran has also acted in a few films making his debut in the Tamil film Poovellam Un Vasam opposite Ajith Kumar and Jyothika. He has also directed a few TV serials, hosted musical programmes and produced programmes in India, Singapore, Malaysia and Sri Lanka.
Auckland Tamil Association also felicitated Ravi Muthumanikam, a famous face of South Indian community who has performed in many musical events in Auckland, with a title “Iasi Thendral “ for Ravi's service to all the South Indian Associations with his melodious voice for more than 10 years
Auckland Tamil Association also felicitated Gayathri Pradeep, who was awarded the best Radio Programme Presenter of the year by Planet FM104.6, for Auckland Tamil Association “Punnagai” Radio programme.
The event also had other dance and musical performances given by members of the local Tamil community.
