Indian origin bus driver stabbed in South Auckland- Update

A bus driver has been hospitalised in a critical condition after being stabbed earlier on Wednesday, October 4 evening.

The driver of Murphys Bus, bus number 361 was stabbed by an unidentified person while he was on the bus at around 5:45 p.m. police said.

Police updated that the man was taken to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition with injuries to his stomach and neck.

Some quick work by Police staff at the scene helped prevent the injuries becoming more serious.

A supervisor at the company told media that there were passengers on the bus when the man was stabbed did not know exactly what had happened.

Update 1: According to reliable sources Indian Weekender just learnt that the injured driver is of Indian origin. 

Update 2: Two males have been arrested as Police continue to investigate the serious assault of a bus driver in Manurewa this evening.

The 15-year old and a 20-year old were arrested this evening at a nearby address, and are due in the Manukau Youth Court and District Court tomorrow.

Passengers on the bus were being spoken to and will be offered support.

The bus will be forensically examined as part of ongoing inquiries.
