Police has released the name of the woman who died in her apartment in Christchurch on Monday morning, September 11.
28-year old Tina Sharma hailed from Ludhiana Punjab and came on a visitor visa two and half months back and lived with her husband in an apartment on Selwyn Street near Hagley Park in Christchurch.
Police on Thursday, September 13 told The Indian Weekender that the post mortem was conducted and the cause of the death is yet to be determined.
Police has deemed the death to be ‘unexplained’, and inquiries are being made on behalf of the Coroner, police confirmed. Police are still awaiting other medical results.
The police conducted a forensic examination of the property on Wednesday, September 13.
The police interviewed the husband of the deceased woman on Monday when the incident was reported.
Emergency services were called at the Selwyn Street apartment on Monday morning and when St John’s ambulance arrived at 9:10 a.m., they found the woman lying in the hallway and the husband performing CPR on her.
“We are working closely with Ms Sharma’s family who are being supported by Victim Support and the local Indian Community,” Police said.
“We ask that the privacy of the family is respected at this difficult time.
“No further information is available at this stage, an update will be provided when it becomes available,” the media release from the police communication team concluded.
