Festivals attract hundreds

February 21 2010
Hundreds flocked to the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre in Manukau yesterday for a grand day of entertainment at the Fiji Festival.
Organised by Radio Tarana, the festival hosted numerous outdoor entertainment events and scores of food stalls selling traditional Fijian, Indian and Chinese food and other Pacific items.
Entertainment was provided by numerous artistes performing solo Bollywood numbers with a Pacific touch. Fijian and Polynesian dances items and music featured too. As did Fiji’s Bobby Darling.
Radio Tarana managing director Robert Khan was pleased with the turnout, boosted by fine sunny weather.
“A huge turnout, and more will come as the day progresses,” Khan said. The programme started at 12 noon and ended at 9pm.
A similar crowd graced the events today (Sunday) at the India Festival at the same venue.
