Hiren's last rites to be performed on Thursday

Slain taxi driver Hiren Mohini's funeral will be held on Thursday after the arrival of close family from India, his family told Indian Weekender yesterday. The cortege is expected to leave the Mohini residence in Mt Roskill at about 1pm for the Waikumete cemetery and crematorium on Thursday.
Meanwhile friends, neighbours and taxi company colleagues visited the Davis Funeral Home on Dominion Road throughout Tuesday to pay respects to the departed soul. More visitors are expected today between 9am and 3pm, one close friend said.
A throng of people continued streaming into the family home in Mt Roskill offering support to his immediate family comprising wife Falguni, mother Vasantiben and two young daughters Yashvi and Hetvi.
Friends yesterday have opened an account in the name of the two young daughters and those wishing to donate may do so according to the following details:
Account name: Yashvi Mohini and Hetvi Mohini Trust Account
Account Number: 06-0284-0165500-00
Bank: National Bank, Mt Albert Branch
Investigation into the attack on Hiren is continuing with some 40 police personnel involved. Several government ministers have condemned the attack and promised to look into measures to make work conditions for New Zealand's taxi drivers safer.
Some of the safety measures being mooted include video cameras and protective shields. The Transport Minister is expected to meet with all concerned stake holder representatives in the next two weeks.
