Over 6000 people participated in the Kite festival held at the Avondale Racecource in Central Auckland on August 9 to mark Makar Sankranti.
People thronged the venue from 11am until late in the evening.
Over the past few years, this event, organised by the Vaishnav Parivar, has grown consistently and the organisers said they have plans to add more events like traditional kite flying competitions in coming years.
