NZ People's party announces Roshan Nauhria as candidate for Mt Roskill by-election

Phil Goff's election as the Mayor of Auckland has given an opportunity to the NZ People's party—the most recent political party in New Zealand created in late August, to test waters in New Zealand's electoral fray.
The party has announced leader Roshan Nauhria as their candidate for the much-anticipated by-elections at the Mt Roskill seat.
The fact that the NZ People's party was quick to announce their candidate much before any other existing parties have made a formal decision on their respective candidates leaves few question unanswered about party's strategy.
It is not yet clear if the party was expecting a by-election on the seat and had a strategy in place to respond to Phil Goff's elevation as the Mayor. Or was the decision taken hurriedly once by-elections became obvious?
Either way what impact Roshan Nauhria's candidature will have on the outcome of the election and the 2017 general elections, if the party chose to stay alive for that long, remains to be seen in future.
