PM John Key looking at engaging with Fiji

Suva, Fiji: New Zealand is looking at restoring diplomatic relations with Fiji, says a report from the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation.

New Zealand Prime Minister John Key said he is sending a letter to Fiji’s leader Commodore Frank Bainimarama in an effort to engage in dialogue.

Mr Key said they are pretty disappointed with the way things turned out this year but he’s willing to help Fiji in whatever way he can.

“We are not – contrary to what a lot of people think or hear – or what he would say himself we are not anti-Frank Bainimarama. We do want to see democracy restored in Fiji. And we are prepared to do whatever it takes as a financial sources or human sources to allow that to take place.”
