MP Pita Paraone and MP Mahesh Bindra attend the seniors meet held at Mt. Roskill War Memorial Hall.
Bhartiya Samaj Charitable Trust’s seniors meet at Mt. Roskill War Memorial Hall on July 4 were honoured by the presence of MP Pita Paraone from NZ First along with his colleague MP Mahesh Bindra.
Pita Paraone elaborately described the importance and values of Matariki and Haka.
Matariki has two meanings, both referring to a tiny constellation of stars; matariki (tiny eyes) and mataariki (eyes of God).
The diverse BSCT community adopted and celebrated Maori New Year, which is marked by the rise of Matariki and the sighting of the following new moon. Matariki is the Maori name for the group of stars also known as the Pleiades star cluster or The Seven Sisters.
On the request of the Bhartiya seniors, Pita performed Haka where the seniors joined him.
The event was a success and BSCTwereoverwhelmed by people's aroha and support in knowing and celebrating the occasion with them.
