Concern over missing student
The disappearance of a 23-year-old part-time chef is now causing concern for the police investigating his whereabouts.

Srikanth Rayadurgam, also an AUT student, was last seen at midday on Thursday October 1 when leaving the Mt Albert home he lived in with relatives. He failed to return home by 10pm, after which time family members contacted Police.

Police inquiries have since revealed that his wallet was found by a cyclist near the Westhaven Marina shortly before 8am the following day, Friday October 2.

The cyclist took the wallet to her workplace and made some inquiries through AUT, who then contacted his family. They in turn went to Westhaven and found other personal items of Mr Rayadurgam's, including his backpack and some clothes, before formally reporting him missing at Avondale Police Station.

Police have since carried out several inquiries and have done air and sea searches in the harbour near Westhaven Marina and beyond.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Joe Aumua of the Avondale CIB says the disappearance is causing concern as there is nothing to suggest Mr Rayadurgam was unhappy or unwell.

"Anyone with information about him or who saw anything suspicious around the Curran St end - under the Harbour Bridge - of Westhaven Marina should contact Police immediately," Mr Aumua said.
