ARMS to hold series workshops for newcomers to NZ

Auckland Regional Migrant Services is hosting a series of free workshops for newcomers to New Zealand.

ARMS’ free information sessions are also returning for a new season. The sessions, which run from 1 to 5 December, cover everything from the New Zealand education and health systems to home ownership and budgeting.

For newcomers with legal worries, ARMS’ offers free 30-minute legal advice sessions every Wednesday, and will be running an immigration information workshop on 20 November.

Auckland has some breath taking sights and new migrants looking to soak up the scenery can sign up to the ARMS regional bus tour, visiting some of the city’s best attractions including Hobsonville Point. The tour will be held on 29 November.

• Health system in NZ and community safety: Info session (FREE) – 2 December, 9.30am to 3.30pm

• Home ownership and tenancy in NZ: Info session (FREE) – 3 December, 9.30am to 3pm

• Budgeting and financial systems in NZ: Info session (FREE) – 4 December, 9.30am to 3pm

• Legal rights and responsibilities in NZ: Info session (FREE) – 5 December, 9.30am to 3pm

• Treaty of Waitangi workshop for newcomers ($15) – 6 December, 9am to 4.30pm

• English Language Clinic (variable fee) – Tuesdays, by appointment

• ARMS English Pronunciation Course (low cost) – on demand

• Legal advice (FREE 30-minute sessions) – every Wednesday, 3pm to 5pm
