Veer Khar to lead Manukau Indian Association

Manukau Indian Association (MIA) in its AGM on March 23, elected a new body to undertake the affairs of the association. At the AGM, ‘Founding Pioneers’ of the association were presented with certificates of honour, by Senior community leader Thakorbhai Parbhu. The AGM also committed to honour the first batch of life members Balubhai Mistry, Keshaw Govind and Suresh Ramji.

The Manukau Indian Association appointed Mr. Veer Khar as their President. Mr Veer Khar succeeded Mohanpal Bath who  was the interim president of the MIA, and not Mr. Manish Tanna as incorrectly reported earlier. 

The new body comprises Mohanpal Bath, Vice President; Gurmeeta Singh, Secretary; Hansa Naran, Treasurer; and Suresh Ramji as Assistant Secretary. The executive committee comprises Balubhai Mistry, PJ Dhatt, Mahendra Patel, Cecil Lochan, Ranjna Patel, Avtar Singh Jasvar, KeshavGovind, Raj Bedi, NimiBedi, Bachan Singh Lali, and Tajindar Singh Sandhu; (+ 9 members to be co-opted).

The elected body is planning to revamp the organisation and focus on the issues that are crucial for the Kiwi Indians all across New Zealand. MIA known for its diverse membership cutting across various sub nationalities and religious bearings; is planning to take a lead role to fill in the current vacuum in community representation.

The Manukau Indian Association, is an association for people of Indian origin in New Zealand, specifically in Auckland. This began as South Auckland Cultural Society.

Manukau Indian Association, welcomes Indians from any origin, whether from any part of India – Gujarat, Maharashtra, Kashmir, Punjab, Bengal, Malayalam, Karnataka or any state, any country – Fiji, England, South Africa, USA, Africa, – say any country of the world. We are all Indians and our doors are open to all. There are no qualifications and conditions based on caste, creed, state, origin or financial commitment.
