Sangam fest set to kick off

Mangere will be a hive of activity this weekend when the NZ Sangam Carnival is held at Centre Park on Robertson Rd.

The two-day carnival, which starts on Saturday, March 8 will feature Soccer, Netball and Volleyball tournaments; Amusement rides - Bouncy castle, giant slide etc for kids; Food and cultural stalls; Face-painting, balloons etc; Kids fun games - Ice-cream eating contest, sack race, egg and spoon race; Adult fun games - kava drinking contest.

Organiser Ashwin Choy said the carnival will have something for everyone to enjoy.
The carnival is being organized by Then India Valibar (NZ) Sangam , which aims to bring together the South-Indian people of Fiji now residing in NZ, to enrich their cultural understanding and to showcase their heritage to the wider community.

Activities get underway at 8am on Saturday, while the official opening is set for 10.30am.
