Kiwi Indian R&B singer Aaradhna leads VMA

The finalists of the 48th annual Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards have been announced, with Shapeshifter, Aaradhna and Lorde all receiving multiple nominations.
Shapeshifter and Aaradhna have five nominations each, with both up for Album of the Year, Single of the Year and the People's Choice Award.
Lorde is nominated in three categories - Single of the Year, for her hit song Royals, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, and People's Choice.
Aaradhna is a finalist in Mentos Album of the Year, Vodafone Single of the year, Spotify Best Female Solo Artist and Best Urban/Hip Hop Album for her album Treble and Reverb. The singer’s also up for Vodafone Peoples’ Choice Award and she picked up a Tui at the 2013 Pacific Music Awards in May taking out Pasefika Proud Best Pacific Music Album.
Aaradhna is a New Zealander of Samoan and Indian descent. Her father Jayanti Patel is Indian from Gujarat, India and her mother Sia'a Patel is Samoan.
She's already won six Pacific Music Awards this year (including Best Album, Song, Video and Female Artist), and been a finalist for the Silver Scroll Award with her song Wake Up.
VMAs will be hosted by five-time Tui winner Stan Walker and veteran Tui Award host Shannon Ryan at Auckland's Vector Arena on November 21.
