Indian dies in Gisborne crash

Ajay Singh, 23, an Indian visiting New Zealand has been named as the second victim of a car that crashed into a concrete shed near Gisborne at about 9-45 last Friday night.
A block of stairs was hurled down the road with the impact of the Subaru Legacy he was travelling in hit the shed. The crash also killed a 15 year old local Gisborne girl.
Mr Singh, who was living in Opotiki, was in the country since about a year. Family members are believed to have been contacted with help from the Indian High Commission in Wellington, whom the police notified. They are expected to arrive here to accompany his body back to India.
Other passengers of the vehicle include the 24-year-old driver and two sisters aged 19 and 14 who are still in a hospital in Gisborne.
Police are hoping to hear from witnesses.
