Men accused of Shalvin’s murder spent most of the money robbed

Police are still searching for Shalvin’s belongings but say it is unlikely that any money can be recovered. They believe that the money has already been spent.

The two accused in the case, Bryne Permal, 20 and Shivneel Shahil Kumar, 18, are charged with the murder of Shalvin Prasad, 21. Shalvin’s scorched body was found at the side of McRobbie Road, Kingseat in South Auckland and the police believe that he was still alive when he was set on fire.

Prasad was killed shortly after withdrawing a significant amount of money, his life’s savings from his bank account.

Two days after the alleged murder, Permal boasted on his Facebook page that he and Kumar had gotten tattoos together. "Awesome day out with Shivneel Kumar getting tattoos together... Brothers LOOKN GUD together," he wrote. Kumar was Shavlin’s former schoolmate.
